A Rather Unhealthy Dose of Shoe Porn

Shoe porn...it raises your heartbeat, you forget about life and neglect your disposable income allowance. Your heart tells you to just click on the buy button but then your logic tells you, "well those are ridiculous, they'll just be used as two identical pieces of interior decor". Well most of these designs are only sold in Europe anyway.

I desperately lust for either of the two black wedges.

His shoes are like Christmas ornaments. I would wear those purple mirror heels around the house naked just to focus on the shoes. I would wear them to bed. They would be my house slippers. It would be understandable if I wore them out, a random girl would come knock me down and take them away from me. Okay you get the point I'll stop.

This was so hard to resist because they are at prices I could actually kind of afford, and they are slightly more practical than the other designers here. The black ones on the far upper right and the middle right could be worn to work. AND they are on sale...but you have to pay up in British pounds.

I love that black tall boot with wings. They would probably be so heavy and if it were snowing it would fall into the wing but practicality again tends to be dismissed in the world of shoes.

Some of these shoes are "plugged" together. I like that detail, I'm a sucker for any kind of hardware.

Fashion Exhibition Flashback: Prada Transformer

Back in April-Mayish, I dragged my dad out to see the Prada Exhibition in Seoul with me. The mobile architecture was done by French Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas. He also designed several Prada stores, including that amazing one in Soho I always take my friends to. The design was pretty cool, there were to be several exhibitions and each time they set a new exhibition, they would shift the cube-like structure to another side as the floor. So essentially, each side of this cube-like structure we entered was a different shape - rectangular, circular, a cross, etc.
I was only in Korea for the first one- Waist Down. They've already showed this in other cities I think but it was cool how Ms. Miuccia Prada recognizes the massive demand of luxury houses in Korea. The space was small along with the amount of skirts I expected, but the display was obviously well thought out. Some skirts twirled and some sashayed to show how it would move naturally when worn. My favorite skirt was the silk chiffon lipstick print.

To be in the spirit, I chose to sport a bag and necklace from Prada - and of course, wear a skirt!

How I Think Men Should Dress Like

UPDATE: shabby chic - my fav photoshoot in this mag i wanted to post
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I bought the Men's Non-No (popular Japanese magazine- can't read any of the text but tons of images make it worth to buy) to check out what is in fashion over there. Japan is probably the trendiest city for men, because I believe there is a greater population of men that actually care about fashion. They also have great designers there that help them out how to dress cool. Korean guys are pretty up there on fashion-consciousness, but I have seen too many guys who fail at dressing themselves, or try too hard that it just a big F for failure. And then I have seen it all in college with the frat boy types with that whole "preppy" thing I have no love for. So what are my mental rules of what the opposite sex should or should not wear?

Thumbs down
  • Graphic t-shirts that are so messy (Ed Hardy is a prime example)
  • Deep v-necks (its not sexy)
  • Boring designer denim in a boring wash and a boot cut, like some from Seven
  • Paperboy caps (only on older men like 50+ does it look good)
  • Trucker hats (only if you are the Ashton Kutcher type)
  • True Religion / Rock & Republic jeans- they are ok on girls but really a no-no on guys. it shows that you are willing to spend money on jeans but have poor taste
  • Vests, especially if you are not super skinny and tall, or super old like older than my dad. I know vests are meant for men but I think if you want to wear a vest wear a suit jacket over it.
  • Polo shirts...I know everyone wears it, but I kind of puke in my mouth a little when I see popped collars.
  • Big belt buckles are so tacky.
  • The thin silver or gold necklaces some guys wear, SUCH a turn-off.
Thumbs up
  • Plaid shirts (esp. in reds)
  • Straight leg Levi's
  • Boat shoes
  • Fashion sneakers but in the right colors
  • Rolled up pants
  • Worn out grey t-shirts, slightly tight on buff guys
  • White t-shirts (you can never go wrong!)
  • Beanies (only in chilly weather)
  • Retro sunnies
  • Beige khakis (shorts and pants both work - I always notice a guy who knows how to coordinate a beige outfit)

Black and White Home

I swear aging brings homebody-ness. I used to have a need to be outside of the house every day, even if its to go on a quick run for groceries or travel an hour just to sit in a cafe with a friend. Maybe realization that I spend more than I plan on every time I leave my home plays a factor...I took some black and white photographs with my super amateur camera but I still love these small digital portable cameras bc we live in a world with Photoshop, which does the job creating vintage-looking images. Anyway here are the pics in my attempt to make my home entertaining:

I drink so much water throughout the day, these glass cups are great bc of the concaves for better grip!

On the left: obsessed with this scent - Joya's Orange Blossom & Pale Musk. I bought the candle version as a gift for my friend. On the right: a recent gift from my mum - exactly what I wanted, black lambskin with gold hardware. We decided that I would take off the charms when I get sick of it and make a bracelet or necklace out of them.

Impulse purchase shoes from Aldo I got a few weeks ago: black patent oxfords with a twist! Don't judge me the price was too good to pass.

I stock up on sanitary goods bc I am a dork like that.

The two big rings are from Korea, and the four stackable ones are hand-me-downs from my mum. She also gave me this awesome gold cocktail ring covered with diamond speckles but for some reason I put it back in her jewelry box...I must re-claim it soon.

Floral Dreams

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Last summer I was pretty into floral prints, so I bought a bunch of floral dresses, shirts...I think I ended up giving half of them to my sister. I got most of it all from Zara, they did everything floral, so it really helped me out there satisfying my floral needs.
Sometimes floral prints can be gawdy so you have to be careful what you wear it with...but then again there have been floral explosions from Dries Van Noten, Balenciaga, and Basso & Brooke...I guess there is no rule that you can't wear floral-on-floral. Floral had its peak last summer and still survived this summer, like these sunnies released recently:

Super has created these floral sunnies exclusively for Liberty & Co. They are 120 pounds, which converts to a little under 200 dollars (I think Super sunnies are usually a little over 120 dollars here). Super cute though.

Wearing my favorite floral top from Zara!

Beautiful pink cherry blossoms in Korea every spring. I will travel to areas with cherry blossom festivals every year if I could. I also love white Magnolia flowers and my favorite flowers are Forsythias- they bloom for like two weeks in the spring, so beautiful and bright yellow. If ever I move into suburbia I will plant them along my fence to share the beauty with my neighbors.
