Best of Prefall13: Proenza Schouler

NYFW is already here and I am still behind. This is my last prefall post! Proenza black and white. This is refreshing for them because you usually see their best pieces are bold colors. I love the structured outerwear and easy bottoms they match up.

Best of Prefall13: Lanvin

Good old Lanvin: You get what you expect, and you expect something you will like.

Best of Prefall13: Sonia Rykiel

Simply Casual Parisian Chic

Best of Prefall13: Thom Browne

I think he is finally getting the perfect marriage between traditonal mens suitwear and feminine silhouettes. Overall 1930s but my favorite looks are the more modern shapes.

Best of Prefall13: Stella McCartney

She makes me want cold weather to stay. And coming from a summer person, that is an extremely bold and rare statement.

Best of Prefall13: Givenchy

I love how Givenchy shoots the lookbook on the streets! It makes ready to wear look relevant and the natural lighting reveals what the clothes would look like when worn in real life. Love how Ricardo Tisci perfects smooth transition between each collection. Prefall sets the mood for more feminine silhouettes and polished looks compared to the military/leather top-to-boot looks from the previous season. Note the two-tone handbag as well.

Best of Prefall13: Christopher Kane

How can one not laud his designs? But to be honest, the concept is much better than practicality. Numerous times I run to his rack only to find the material too heavy or too delicate...and too expensive. Just by the images you can tell it is probably the case again. But still...museum worthy. Decor on the body.

My New York: Best Desserts in NYC

Everyone has their own opinion on the best. Here are my top ten favorite desserts you can get in the city:

1. Green tea mille crepe cake from Lady M $8/slice
You just have to try it. Layers and layers of crepe bonded by green tea cream. It is creamy but light, and not too sweet. Definitely share a piece...

2. Chocolate bread from Paris Baguette $2.50
Don't share or you will regret it so bad. It is a pretty big piece but you can eat the whole thing. Its a yeasty light bread with bits of semi sweet chocolate and the end is dunked in melted chocolate. Surprisingly not too sweet. This is the perfect breakfast or mid afternoon snack to have with coffee. I think about it alot.

3. Hazelnut or strawberry yeast doughnut from Doughnut Plant $2.75
Always get the yeast, never the cake doughnut. And go for seasonal glazed flavors, not the ones with fillings. And please share, it will reduce the guilt and sugar level you will probably swallow in 0.005 seconds.

4. Matcha muffin from Kyotofu $3.50
It is not too sweet and has a perfect amount of matcha flavor. Skip the fancy desserts and get at least 3 of them to-go so you can have it all week.

5. Caramelized banana ricotta tart with banana ice cream from Balthazaar $9
It has been 3 years since I first and last had this dessert and I am still dreaming about. My heart fluttered crossing west to east on Broadway and Spring when I overheard a guy telling his friends about this dessert. It is memorable and quite perfect.

6. Galaktobourekakia: phyllo with custard and honey from Pylos $6
I love Pylos and even if I am full I always get this dessert. So simple and satisfying! I can't think of anyone who would not enjoy this dessert. Perfect to share for two but not three.

7. Sundae from ABC kitchen $13
Two people can finish but better off with three to four. I have never had any sundae like this before. Salted caramel ice cream, candied peanuts, pretzel chunks, fudge, popcorn, whipped cream (i think they make it in-house because I usually hate whipped cream but like this one) all in one bowl of heaven.

8. Triple milk cake at Philip Marie $8
Such a pleasant surprise and so worth getting. Never had anything like it but its like a cake soaked in sweet milk but not soggy. More like densely spongy. Am I explaining this right? Anyway its good.

9. Almond croissant from Financier Patisserie $2.50
I hate when they run out! It is perfectly crunchy, flaky, and buttery and will keep you full for the next 4 hours. Perfect pair with a cup of hot coffee!

10. Donuts from Flex Mussels $10/four
You get to choose four from a bunch of flavors but I highly recommend the salted cateja. The donuts are small so this size is perfect to share with one other person.
