I warmed up to the color much so when last year I saw this image of MIroslava Duma rocking a red-on-red suit. How comfortable and confident does she look? And beginning of Spring I had been pining for a pair of red jeans. I never found the right fit but look at these yet-to-be-released Wranglers, meow! I want now!

accents of red
i usually am very adverse to the color red. i relate it to flashiness or bad taste. but this summer, i have been opening up to the color more - I like it as a point color here and there. I am not sure if it is a phase but I have always been keen to Dorothy's ruby red slippers and long skinny red wool pants. I also have a belief that there is are certain shades of red that look luxe or good on your skin tone.

resort state of mind
i've been dreaming about my next vacation, which will happen in the end of december. i really want to go someplace warm - the philippines, thailand, india, brazil...not sure if it will pan out but it's something nice to look forward to!
this is what kind of triggered my strong my interest in resort collections and kind of put pre-fall and fall 2011 to the back of my mind.
To start with the strongest collections, No. 21 and Valentino have been so consistently good. I always loved Alessandro Dell'Acqua, but I think his focus on this new label is just spot-on. And to be honest, I like Valentino even more now than what is was before Mr. Valentino retired. Is that horrible? Sometimes others can better represent your vision.

Givenchy's resort is very sportswear (and good sportswear too!) It just proves Riccardo Tisci can do anything (and do it right!)
Lanvin is so romantic and whimsical! Just looking at the images of the collection makes me want to get married in one of his dresses and go on a holiday trip to someplace chic and exotic.

Alexander Wang was good, but his T line was even better. Why didn't he make this line when I was in high school? I would have lived in this collection. Christopher Kane is always bizarre, but a good bizarre. I really hope somebody wears that pink number on the far bottom right corner. A dark brunette, like Rachel Bilson or Camilla Belle.
Casual collections for resort are more believable- who wants to be uncomfortable on a vacation? You could be walking around your feet most of the time doing not-so-glamorous activities. I really love Thakoon Addition and I wonder if Barneys will carry it (if so, what floor?)

But then resort could also mean to some fancy parties to attend and so that is why YSL and Giambattista Valli makes these beautiful floral chiffon maxi dresses.

Pucci and Scognamiglio had great modern dressy pieces that can be worn a night out in town.
Other favorite looks: FUR from The Row, simple slips from Calvin Klein, the perfect dress from Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony...
