Best of Prefall13: Proenza Schouler

NYFW is already here and I am still behind. This is my last prefall post! Proenza black and white. This is refreshing for them because you usually see their best pieces are bold colors. I love the structured outerwear and easy bottoms they match up.

Best of Prefall13: Lanvin

Good old Lanvin: You get what you expect, and you expect something you will like.

Best of Prefall13: Sonia Rykiel

Simply Casual Parisian Chic

Best of Prefall13: Thom Browne

I think he is finally getting the perfect marriage between traditonal mens suitwear and feminine silhouettes. Overall 1930s but my favorite looks are the more modern shapes.

Best of Prefall13: Stella McCartney

She makes me want cold weather to stay. And coming from a summer person, that is an extremely bold and rare statement.

Best of Prefall13: Givenchy

I love how Givenchy shoots the lookbook on the streets! It makes ready to wear look relevant and the natural lighting reveals what the clothes would look like when worn in real life. Love how Ricardo Tisci perfects smooth transition between each collection. Prefall sets the mood for more feminine silhouettes and polished looks compared to the military/leather top-to-boot looks from the previous season. Note the two-tone handbag as well.

Best of Prefall13: Christopher Kane

How can one not laud his designs? But to be honest, the concept is much better than practicality. Numerous times I run to his rack only to find the material too heavy or too delicate...and too expensive. Just by the images you can tell it is probably the case again. But still...museum worthy. Decor on the body.

accents of red

i usually am very adverse to the color red. i relate it to flashiness or bad taste. but this summer, i have been opening up to the color more - I like it as a point color here and there. I am not sure if it is a phase but I have always been keen to Dorothy's ruby red slippers and long skinny red wool pants. I also have a belief that there is are certain shades of red that look luxe or good on your skin tone.

I warmed up to the color much so when last year I saw this image of MIroslava Duma rocking a red-on-red suit. How comfortable and confident does she look? And beginning of Spring I had been pining for a pair of red jeans. I never found the right fit but look at these yet-to-be-released Wranglers, meow! I want now!

I ♥ FUR

New York is so cold...practically blizzarded this past weekend. What can keep you warm if you live in icy cold climates?
  1. layers and layers x10 of clothing
  2. sheepskin boots and wooly socks
  3. earmuffs, gloves, scarves, hats
  4. hot packs that you can stick here and there inside pockets
  5. FURRR!!

In Search for the Perfect Plaid Blazer

First off I love blazers because they look sharp and I think it also slims your figure. I want a plaid blazer that has a tight fit as if it were made for a woman, but use of an old man's plaid suit, with the shades khakis and browns. I saw this picture of Korean actress and fashion icon Ryowon and thought it was nearly perfect! But the actual blazer has huge shoulder pads and a zipper closing, but I do love the pattern and how it has open seams where the sleeves and shell are supposed to come together:

Here are some things I found. I came pretty close to buying that Topshop blazer, it has a quirky color and some shoulder pads for extra structure, but the knit material was no good. I prefer something woven and that is a wool blend!

Floral Dreams

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Last summer I was pretty into floral prints, so I bought a bunch of floral dresses, shirts...I think I ended up giving half of them to my sister. I got most of it all from Zara, they did everything floral, so it really helped me out there satisfying my floral needs.
Sometimes floral prints can be gawdy so you have to be careful what you wear it with...but then again there have been floral explosions from Dries Van Noten, Balenciaga, and Basso & Brooke...I guess there is no rule that you can't wear floral-on-floral. Floral had its peak last summer and still survived this summer, like these sunnies released recently:

Super has created these floral sunnies exclusively for Liberty & Co. They are 120 pounds, which converts to a little under 200 dollars (I think Super sunnies are usually a little over 120 dollars here). Super cute though.

Wearing my favorite floral top from Zara!

Beautiful pink cherry blossoms in Korea every spring. I will travel to areas with cherry blossom festivals every year if I could. I also love white Magnolia flowers and my favorite flowers are Forsythias- they bloom for like two weeks in the spring, so beautiful and bright yellow. If ever I move into suburbia I will plant them along my fence to share the beauty with my neighbors.
